Frequently asked questions

The camera scanner isn't working.+
FX Cat needs camera permission to scan price tags and menus. On iPhone, open Settings → FX Cat → Camera; on Android, open Settings → Apps → FX Cat → Permissions → Camera, and make sure access is enabled. If it still doesn't work, try good lighting and hold the phone steady about 15–20 cm from the price.
Are exchange rates real-time?+
No. Rates come from a reputable third-party provider and are intended for everyday reference. They may differ slightly from the rate your bank or card network applies at the moment of a transaction.
Do my saved checks sync across devices?+
Saved checks and preferences live on your device. On iPhone, they're included in your encrypted iCloud backup if you have it enabled for FX Cat. On Android, they stay on your device and are deliberately left out of cloud backups.
Why do I see ads?+
Ads (served via Google AdMob) keep the core app free for everyone. On iPhone, you can manage ad tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android, tap Privacy choices in the app's Settings to manage ad consent, or adjust your advertising ID under Settings → Google → Ads.
How do I delete my data?+
Because FX Cat doesn't use accounts, all of your app data lives on your device. Deleting the app removes it. If you'd like me to confirm I hold no other data tied to you, just email me.
Does FX Cat work offline?+
Conversions work offline using the most recently downloaded rates. Reconnect to the internet to refresh to the latest rates.
